Within measure 1.23./1.24. “Fishing ports, landing places, fish exchanges and shelters” for the implementation of the project Investment in the Komiža fishing port, funds were allocated through the Operational Program for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Croatia in the highest possible amount based on the Tender. The contribution of EU funds is 75%, and 25% will come from the state budget. The total amount of investment is five million euros. The current port infrastructure is inadequate for the needs due to the lack of space for mooring and landing, since the port’s fishing activities are mixed with tourism activities, and because the general condition of the port’s waters is inadequate. The project includes the investment in Komiža fishing port south of the former fish factory “Neptun”. The primary breakwater will be 78 meters long. There will be the plateau at the root of the primary breakwater, the operational coast 54 meters long, and the operational coast east of the core of the breakwater 89 meters long, with the arrangement of traffic areas and installations in the back of the coastal wall. Fishermen will be able to safely and comfortably access the ships by vehicles and more easily unload and load equipment, ice and catch. The total amount of investment is five million euros.
