The Brižine fishing port is located within the port open to public traffic, on the western edge of the "Kaštela Basin C" port area in the Brižine district, managed by the Port of Split Authority. The project improved the infrastructure in order to increase the quality of the catch, enable quality control at the landing site and ensure the traceability of fishery products. Fuel supply to vessels was improved with more rational energy use and lower emissions, together with the reception and disposal of discarded catch and the collection and disposal of waste such as old nets and marine litter collected during fishing. Hygiene, working and safety conditions for fishermen and port staff were significantly improved. The project was co-financed from EU funds through the Operational Programme for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries 2014–2020, under the measure "Fishing ports, landing sites, auction halls and shelters" of the Ministry of Agriculture, in the maximum permitted amount of five million euros. The total value of the project is approximately EUR 6.2 million. Works in the Brižine fishing port in Kaštela Basin C were carried out in the central area of the pier and where it meets the shoreline. Organised and systematic berthing of vessels is now possible. A collection and distribution centre was built, the existing quay was extended and repaired, and the land traffic area was landscaped. Connections to utility infrastructure were also completed. The Brižine fishing port offers a complete service as a special-purpose port for receiving and accommodating fishing vessels and serves as a landing site for fishing vessels. The investment is an innovation for the whole of Split-Dalmatia County, since the county previously had no adequate fishing port offering such services, and the entire infrastructure is equipped with modern and innovative equipment. No adequate marine waste management system had been implemented in the county until this project. The project was ranked among the six best projects in Croatia in 2020 and nominated for the Croatian Architects' Association "Viktor Kovačić" award. It received the BIG SEE Architecture Award 2022 – Grand Prix for architecture, accepted in Ljubljana by its author Dinko Peračić.
