The project extended the east quay in the City Port (Obala kneza Domagoja I and II) to provide proper berthing for catamarans, while also widening the passenger corridor and improving the flow of passengers and other pedestrians using Obala kneza Domagoja. Four catamaran berths were put into service. The extension allows the operational quay to function by separating the area for berthing, embarkation, disembarkation and ship supply from the area used by pedestrians. A green strip also separates the part of the operational area used by cars and lorries boarding the ferries. The east quay was extended five and a half metres seaward in order to improve the existing service, port functionality and the safety of port users, increasing its width from four to nine and a half metres. The extended section of Obala kneza Domagoja I is 135 metres long and that of Obala kneza Domagoja II is 125 metres long. The newly created operational quay area is approximately 1,407 square metres. The quay is paved with stone and equipped with street furniture, lighting, utility cabinets supplying ships with electricity and water, additional green areas and decorative paving slabs that visually separate the berthing, embarkation, disembarkation and supply area from the pedestrian area. Importantly, the project ensures accessibility for persons with disabilities and persons with reduced mobility, providing unobstructed movement throughout the site and barrier-free access to the public traffic area. The approved public co-financing of the project amounts to EUR 5.6 million, of which HRK 35,941,444.42, or 85%, comes from the EU Cohesion Fund through the Operational Programme "Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014–2020" and 15% from the State Budget of the Republic of Croatia. The project "Reconstruction – extension of Obala kneza Domagoja I and II in the City Port of Split" was planned as the first phase of the project "Reconstruction and extension of St Peter's Pier in the City Port of Split". These projects will complete the infrastructure of the City Port basin of the Port of Split and ensure optimal traffic flow, service levels and sustainable development for decades to come.
