Investment in the Komiža fishing port

Under measure 1.23/1.24 "Fishing ports, landing sites, auction halls and shelters", funds were awarded in the highest possible amount through the Operational Programme for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Croatia 2014–2020, following a call for proposals, for the project "Investment in the Komiža fishing port". The EU contribution is 75% and the State Budget contribution 25%. The total investment amounts to five million euros. The current port infrastructure does not meet needs because of a lack of space for berthing and landing, since fishing activities are mixed with tourist activities, and because the general condition of the port's waters is inadequate. The project covers phase 1 of the investment in the Komiža fishing port, south of the former "Neptun" fish factory. It provides for upgrading the 78-metre primary breakwater, the plateau at the root of the primary breakwater, a 54-metre operational quay and an 89-metre operational quay east of the root of the breakwater, together with traffic areas and installations behind the quay wall. Fishermen will be able to reach their boats by vehicle safely and comfortably and to load and unload equipment, ice and catch more easily. The Decision on the award of funds under measure 1.23/1.24 "Fishing ports, landing sites, auction halls and shelters" has been obtained. The EU contribution is 75% and the remainder is financed from the State Budget. The total investment amounts to five million euros.
