The project built berths on the outer side of the breakwater in the City Port of Split for ships in international traffic; they have been in use since March 2017. The project is worth EUR 23.3 million. The outer berths were built to improve the flow of passengers and vehicles to our islands and to increase traffic safety in the port by increasing the capacity of the City Port of Split. Two berths were built for cruise ships and ferries, especially in the summer months: ships up to 270 metres long can use the east berth (245 m long and 15 m wide) and ships up to 320 metres long the west berth (265 m long and 15 m wide), together with two 28-metre-wide ro-ro ramps for loading and unloading vehicles and passengers. The works also included handling areas for vehicle and passenger traffic, a connection (access) from the port area to the new berths and plateau (road traffic, passengers, utilities), as well as mooring facilities and navigation aids (water supply, electrical installations, public lighting and fibre-optic cables). The minimum depth along the quay line is 10.50 metres.
