The project provides for widening St Peter's Pier on its northern side and extending it by 53 metres. In total, the operational area will increase by 5,350 square metres and the number of ro-ro ferry ramps on St Peter's Pier will increase from three to five, improving the flow of passengers and vehicles. There will be two 100-metre berths and one berth each of 108, 147 and 188 metres, with five ramps (one 30 metres wide and four 20 metres wide). The quay structure of the pier extension is designed as a system of reinforced concrete slabs resting on reinforced concrete frames spaced approximately ten metres apart. The width of the extension varies up to 45 metres. On the extended part of the pier, a reinforced concrete element with a partition will be built underwater between the piles to reduce wave height in the port. Space for water and power installations is provided within the quay structure. The edge of the quay structure will be finished with stone coping and stone facing. A harbour light, relocated from its current position on the pier, is planned at the head of the pier. On the northern and southern sides of the existing quay wall of St Peter's Pier, the wall will be repaired with a new reinforced concrete infill from top to bottom, with protective rock armour and a toe block on the southern side. Modular units will be installed for toilets, a ticket office, changing rooms and a catering outlet (bar) with a retractable awning, together with the associated installations and equipment. The ground surfaces and surrounding area will be paved, landscaped and furnished in line with the surrounding areas of the pier. A new water supply network will be built along a new route with a new metering chamber connection. For port operations, a new water network will supply the prefabricated units on the pier and garden hydrants for maintaining the green strip. A transformer substation owned by the investor will be built to supply electricity to all future consumers within the project area. The project also covers the pier's outdoor lighting. The project is worth EUR 14 million and will be financed from EU funds.
